Prescot Cables 1-1 Ossett Albion

Lloyd Dean in goal

Cables started strongly, taking a second minute lead via Alan Burton’s right foot finish following a corner. They dominated the opening period, although the width of the crossbar ensure that lead was maintained, following Jason Price’s header. The turning point came when the home keeper, Marcus Burgess, was shown a red card in the 22nd minute. Lloyd Dean replaced him in goal. The teams went in level, at half time, after Jason Price’s header found the net.

The second half was mostly devoid of incident, until a frantic finale in which Olowabi’s effort, from close range, clipped the top of the visitors crossbar (85), and Kieron Scargill almost grabbed all three points for the visitors (89), a fine save from the replacement keeper, tipping the ball onto the underside of the bar, ensured that the spoils where shared.
