For the second successive festive fixture Chris Almond was at the double as cables overcame Mother Nature and a pre-match Power Cut which meant a short delay to kick off, to register three valuable points against Colwyn Bay.
It was Almond who opened the scoring on 6 minutes as Cables attacked down the right and the cables forward beat Colwyn Bay keeper Matt Cooper to the ball to poke under the advancing stopper. The sides where soon level though with Bay skipper Sam Barnes scrambling the ball home from a left wing corner.
Man of the Match Almond scored his second to restore cables advantage on 33 minutes, playing a fantastic one-two with strike partner Lloyd Dean before finishing at the second attempt.
The first half had been a scrappy affair but with no shortage of goal mouth action at both ends and the second half continued in similar vain, the visitors going very close on two occasions which included a fine save one-on-one from Ben Barnes, meanwhile as the half wore on, Cables’ substitute Jordan Southworth saw a cross diverted onto his own post by a Bay defender before a fine quick break saw Jordan Wynne draw a quality save from Cooper.
It was from the resulting corner on 82 minutes that the home side put the game to bed, Lloyd Dean meeting the cross unchallenged to guide a header across goal and into the net.
