A dramatic late goal helped Prescot Cables secure a home win over Bamber Bridge and with it a plac in the end of season promotion play offs.
Cables dominated the early stages of the match and it was no surprise when Chris Almond opened the scoring on 16 minutes. Prescot’s livewire striker got on the end of a brilliant cross from James Edgar.
Bamber Bridge came out for the second half with determination and in the 46th minute Adam Dodd equalised with a wide angled shot that Ben Barnes couldn’t get a hand to.
Although the visitors created a number of chances during the second period, Cables were also pressing.
In the 90th minute Prescot’s persistence paid off when a deflected shot from Josh Klein-Davies went over the keeper and into the back of the net to make it 2-1 to Cables.
Results elsewhere meant that Bamber Bridge also booked their place in the end-of-season tournament, although Cables leapfrogged their guests and moved into fourth place in the League Table.
