Prescot Cables overcame a spirited Chasetown side and the dismissal of James Edgar to secure an emphatic victory at Volair Park.
The match got off to a great start for Cables as a dummy cross found Valter Fernandes who pulled the ball back across the box and found the foot of Jordan Southworth who gave the hosts the lead. after 6 minutes.
In the 21st minute Chasetown registered their first shot, which wide for a goal kick.
A mistake from Chasetown’s Nicholas Wellecomme saw Lloyd Dean block his clearance and cross the in to Josh Klein-Davies who made the score 2-0 to Cables.
On 43 minutes, Prescot stretched their lead further. Josh Klein-Davies crossed the ball into the box. Danny Flood got up well and headed over the Chasetown ‘keeper, who incorrectly thought the ball was going over the bar.
In the 51st minute, Chasetown’s Jack Langston hit a spectacular shot from the halfway line and caught Ben Barnes off his line to make the scoreline 3-1.
On 53 minutes James Edgar was sent off for a foul on Chasetown’s George Cater. The subsequent free kick was saved by Ben Barnes. Cables then hit the Scholars on the counter-attack and a through ball to Josh Klein-Davies enabled him to put his team 4-1 ahead.
On 66 minutes an appeal from Chasetown’s Daniel Cocks for a foul in the box saw him booked for diving.
With the visitors losing confidence, a Jordan Wynne shot was saved, only for the follow up to fall nicely for Josh Klein-Davies to complete his hat-trick and make the score 5-1 to Cables.
In the 75th minute, Cables were awarded a penalty for a foul on Michael Monaghan. Monaghan stepped up to take it himself and made the final score 6-1 to the Pesky Bulls.
