Prescot Cables had to settle for a share of the points after drawing 0-0 away to Glossop North End.
Faced with a heavy pitch, driving rain and swirling winds, Cables were unable to impose their attacking style upon a dogged and determined Glossop side who nearly snatched the points right at the end of the game.
The first half saw no real moments of quality. Lloyd Dean forced a routine save from the home ‘keeper with a shot from distance on 18 minutes. In addition, Matthew Hamilton fired just wide on 36 minutes after good work from Luke Griffiths.
The second half saw both sides have ‘goals’ ruled out by the officials. The home side twice found the net from free kicks where the attackers were adjudged to have strayed offside, while Cables had one chalked out when Jordan Southworth knocked the ball in after Dean’s shot was saved, only to see the lineman’s flag raised again.
Late in the game, Ollie Taylor was forced into an excellent save low to his right to ensure Cables came away with a share of the points.
