Cables Greats: Jackie Lawton

Sunset over The IP Truck Parts Stadium

In our final article of the Cables Greats series, Glyn Williams tells the story of Jackie Lawton.

Born in Halsall Street, Jackie was a Prescotian who signed forms for both Everton (as an amateur) and Liverpool (as a professional), from whom he joined Cables in 1954.

He was a pipe-fitter at BICC and served as a Scoutmaster, meaning that he remained at the heart of the town’s community long after he stopped playing for the club.
